I.Magnesia 359, a fragmentary inscription, is shown to be part of a 6th c. AD report of proceed-ngs, a rare kind of document in Early byzantine legal epigraphy. Numerous parallel texts, notably in papyri and Acts of the Councils, allow a partial restoration of the Magnesia fragment, revealing a dialogue between a representative of the city and a very high ranking magistrate (glo-riosissimus). Several elements emerge from the text thus restored: mention of Mastaura, to the east of Magnesia, whose name is transcribed in Latin script; mention of an imperial rescript granting (to Mastaura?) a reduction of charges; praise of the emperor's benevolence; request addressed to the magistrate to have the imperial rescript read; order given by the magistrate to read the rescript and attach it to the report.
